Abstract

The role of the physics teacher in shaping students' modern scientific outlook is one of the leading ones since studying physics as a source of understanding of natural phenomena is fundamentally important for mastering other natural science disciplines. Educational cognition has much in common with scientific cognition. Therefore, it is necessary not only to familiarize students with the system of ready-made scientific truths but also to equip them with the methods of scientific cognition. However, physics teacher training programs pay insufficient attention to the formation of methodological knowledge. The paper proposes a list of sections and topics of the course of general physics, during the study of which it is possible to reveal the essence of methodological principles of physics, to show their role in the knowledge of the laws of the universe and the construction of scientific physical models and theories. For the effective training of physics teachers, it is advisable to develop and implement a special course "Methodology of Physics and Methods of Teaching Physics". The development of a methodology for teaching physics based on physics didactics and physics methodology is also promising.
