Program  “Education under Uncertainty: Resilience, Adaptation and Innovation in Wartime”

Format:
distance, networked, and individual internship.

Target group:
academic staff of higher education institutions in Ukraine, including holders of Ph.D., Candidate, and Doctor of Sciences degrees, who design and implement research and educational initiatives in the field of education.

Duration:
from August 4, 2025, to December 8, 2025.

Total workload:
Total workload: 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits).

Structure of the internship program

1. Analytical and methodological module (30 hours)
   – Familiarization with the concept of the monograph “Education At The Edge: Resilience, Recovery, And Innovation In Wartime Ukraine” and with the logic of the research–study model (10 hours).
   – Clarification of the topic, aim, and objectives of the author’s research; formulation of research questions and working hypotheses (10 hours).
   – Examination of approaches to resilient education, the development of resilience, adaptive strategies, and innovations in education in wartime (10 hours).
2. Research and methodological module (60 hours)
   – In-depth analysis of Ukrainian and international scholarly sources (20 hours).
   – Selection and justification of research methods; design of the study (10 hours).
   – Collection, processing, and interpretation of empirical data (20 hours).
   – Discussion of ways to integrate theoretical and practical results to inform educational policy and practice (10 hours).
3. Publication and publishing module (60 hours)
   – Writing the author’s monograph chapter (52 hours).
   – Preparing in-text citations, reference lists, tables, figures, and appendices in line with international publishing standards (4 hours).
   – Online seminar “Publishing Practices in Canada: Preparing and Publishing Scholarly Monographs”, covering: requirements of Canadian publishers for academic manuscripts; organisation of peer review and authors’ interaction with reviewers; ethical foundations of academic writing and research integrity; models of open access; copyright issues and contractual relations with the publisher (4 hours).
4. Expert and communication module (30 hours)
   – Participation in internal peer review of the monograph chapters and provision of constructive feedback to colleagues (8 hours).
   – Revision of the author’s own chapter based on reviewers’ and editors’ comments (8 hours).
   – Development of skills in international scholarly communication: professional correspondence with the editorial board, participation in online discussions, negotiation of final editorial changes (8 hours).
   – Discussion of possibilities for applying the results of the internship to update educational programs and develop new courses, training modules, and research–education projects (6 hours).

Expected results of the program

– Broadened experience of participation in international publishing projects, in particular through collaboration with a Canadian publisher.
– Improved practical skills in preparing monograph chapters in line with contemporary academic and publishing requirements.
– Deepened skills of working in research and editorial teams and of using digital tools for collaborative scholarly activity in online environments.
– Enhanced ability to transform research results into realistic proposals for change in education during war and post-war reconstruction.
